Gypsy Picnic Treasure Hunting

G’mornin lovies! We are in party mode in Casa Katsaros! We have two parties we are hosting and a hearty handful of more to attend. This weather is worth celebrating. We noticed the fireflies in Tennessee are about a magical as you can get, so those cool night parties are a lot like fiction and we are grateful people here like to enjoy these simple moments as much as possible. I don’t think we have come across a porch sans swing to date.

We have been working with Pier 1 and Spotify on a Gypsy Picnic over the past few weeks and besides the party itself, the shopping is my favorite part. We collected these beauties to get the feel going for our tasting picnic.

pier 1 picnicPier 1 had a ton of neutrals to chose from, which I love because these goods can be used for 4th of July, birthdays, etc, etc because they work with just about anything and everything. For our Gypsy Picnic, we are using textiles, food and flowers to bring in color. We actually thought about a 4th of July party, and if that happened, it would look something like this:

Shopping for the Gypsy Picnic was a bit tough because we can across so many great things, but we wanted to be very intentional in our selection. We stuck to these rules:

Purchase with intention.

We wanted to make sure everything fit together well specifically for a tasting party. This means we didn’t need a lot of large serving bowls or any family style wares. Pier 1 had a ton of tasting party options, so this was easy and also what inspired this type of party.

Make sure as a group, the items are telling the same story.

Its so easy to just pick what you like, and then once put together, it all looks chaotic. We chose neutrals with tiny pops of indigo and stuck to it.

Function over fluff.

There were a lot of Buddha’s I wanted, but I needed to calm myself and focus on what people were going to be doing and needing. Things like plats, glasses, napkins – ya know? Things with use. I was good and only got one Buddha, and found an important job for him.

It was a little hard to not get mixed up in the offerings (and walk away with 10 Buddha’s), but I think we pulled something pretty great together and I am so looking forward to this weekend. I am excited to show you the pictures and chat mood, food and music. If you want to check out the playlist for the day, hop back to the first post.
