One-a-Week/ 1

Ohhh! Surprise! The pregnant lady wants pickles. Yes she does! I am not a fan of soggy pickles, but I do love me some small batch home made pickles. We have a friend who got us addicted to DIY pickles, and I am so happy he did. A while back I was doing a One-A-Week-Wednesday post where I sported a project found on pinterest and invited you all to join me knock something off your pinterest list! This is a smaller version of The Pinterest Challenge I hosted with some other bloggers last year.

Now that life is a bit more hectic, a Wednesday commitment is off the table, but I am promising myself a weekly commitment to knock something off my list! We are starting with these pickles!

I pinned a few different pickle recipes I found here and here on pinterest, but true to form, we wound up doing out own thing. I think it’s totally fine if you stick to the basic recipe.

We started with a five back of kirby cucumbers (the small ones) from our local market and that filled about five small ball jars. I highly suggest using (or getting one if you don’t have one) a mandolin. Each pickle slice is perfectly even and they all get saturated by the brine evenly.

We were heavy on the fresh garlic, pepper flakes and vinegar and low on the sugar. They sured out exactly how we like them. Crispy and fresh and packed with flavor.

Your brine may not look as crazy as ours (or maybe it will!), and it will still turn out great.
